A Southern Hardscape

Recently I traveled to Alabama to do some work for family. I had designed a patio space for them previously, but the plan was not to work on that project this visit. That is until the day after I arrived! The plan changed and we created a large, multi-level hardscape! The project added a new dimension to the backyard, creating a large space to lounge, entertain or dine.
The work began with the laying out of the patio space. In the process it was decided that two trees needed removed. The project also required excavation. This was all done by hand or with a sod cutter. We assisted a couple of guys who were hired for the forming of the concrete that was to be the foundation of the hardscape. A concrete company poured the concrete - then the work really got started. After we tore off the forms the process of constructing the seat walls and columns started! Check out the pictures below.
The hardscape consisted of a natural stone floor with a cultured stone veneer on the walls and pillars. The walls and pillars had a matching colored cap. There were 12 low voltage landscape lights that were installed underneath the wall cap and in the pillars. The addition of the lights to the project really helped it to stand out even more! Landscape lighting can add a new, exciting dimension to your project or your existing landscape. Once the forms came off, we were able to get the majority of the stone and veneer installed in less than two weeks. In the pictures below you may notice that the stone still needs cleaned in some areas. Also a section of veneer and wall caps need laid still. This project was good experience for me to continue to grow in hardscape installation and bring more experience to my client's future projects.
A hardscape can totally transform your landscape! Let the Team at SummitView Landscape and Design install an amazing patio or retaining wall for you in 2019. Serving the Lima, Wapakoneta and surrounding areas, we can design and install a hardscape for YOU!
